As I reflect and enjoy what the last few weeks have amounted to…I need to thank my mentor and friend, Carmen Oliver. From the moment we met, you embraced me. You have been by my side over the years cheering me on, encouraging me, and helping me to hone my craft. Being your teacher assistant through the Writing Barn was an experience I will cherish forever. Carmen, you are a “friendtor” to me–a mentor who offers invaluable advice, wisdom, and guidance. But you are also my friend, who I cherish and love. Thank you.
Welcome! I'm Lee and I'm a writer, educator, and longtime member of the SCBWI, 12 x 12 Challenge, and Courage to Create/Verge Community. I have also been a teacher assistant with the Writing Barn, where I met my wonderful mentor, Carmen Oliver.
Writing is and always will be one of my favorite things to do, but I also can’t resist a sunny day at the beach, ice cream, puppies, pillows, funny puns, and gumballs—blue has always been my favorite flavor! I write humorous and heartfelt picture books full of creative wordplay, unique characters, and themes of social-emotional learning, friendship, and perseverance, to name a few.
